Fantasy Updates

2020 NFL Draft Updated Live

QB Joe Burrow will be a the Day 1 starter with decent weapons at his disposal. Receivers like AJ Green, Tyler Boyd, and Auden Tate are great options in the passing game for the young gunslinger. As long as Mixon doesn’t hold out (you know how well that works for RBs), the Bengals should actually have a formidable offense. Look for Burrow to be a mid-QB2 in fantasy and finish in the 15-20 range for the year for fantasy purposes.

QB Tua Tagovailoa goes #5 overall to Miami. They will likely redshirt him to start the year and allow him to heal completely. Once Fitzmagic inevitably fades, he will get some starts to end the year. In fantasy, he is not draftable until he is playing though. Leave him on the waiver wire in all but dynasty leagues to start the year.

QB Justin Herbert going to the Chargers is another selection that will bear no fruit until they potentially fall out of contention. The Chargers seem committed to QB Tyrod Taylor to start this year. Herbert may have some dynasty appeal, but is not re-draftable in standard leagues.

WR Henry Ruggs III to the Raiders will have every opportunity to start from Day 1. I am mildly concern that he has Derek Carr throwing him, who has not been known to chuck it down the field much. Draft him as a WR4 with WR2 upside in standard leagues.

WR Jerry Jeudy slots in as the Day 1 starter opposite Courtland Sutton in Denver. Along with Melvin Gordon and upgrades along the Offensive Line, the Denver offense is set to take a step forward. Drew Lock will have no excuses this year. I look at Jeudy as a WR3 in fantasy and see 70-80 catch potential in his debut campaign. Probably a good pick in rounds 6-7 of standard leagues.

WR CeeDee Lamb has all of the talent in the world to develop into a stud WR. He just joins a messy situation in Dallas. He likely starts as the WR2/3 on his own team with Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup ahead of him on the depth chart. Should one of them get injured, Lamb could be a WR2. However I am not sure how all the mouths will get fed for fantasy purposes. Cowboys offense is scary though in real life.

WR Jaelon Reagor falls into a mouth watering situation in Philly desperate for WR help. Carson Wents became the first QB to ever throw for more than 4,000 yards without a wingle WR going over 500 yards. He needs the help, but it is hard to see Reagor being that guy. Doesn’t project to be more than a WR4 on his own team in his rookie year. Not sure I would

WR Justin Jefferson heads to a great situation in Minnesota with lots of targets up for grabs. Plays same slot as Adam Theilen, so the Vikings will have to get creative, but Jefferson is big and talented enough to work the outside too. I can see him becoming the highest drafted Rookie WR in re-draft leagues with WR2 potential in rounds 5-6.

WR Brandon Aiyuk is a long armed WR with solid hands and tremendous catch radius. AIyuk goes into a great opportunity here with Emmanual Sanders no longer in town. He could push for snaps early and finish in the 40-50 catch range making him more of a WR5 in fantasy. It will be interesting how quickly he can move up the depth chart. Deebo Samuel started sow last year, but wound up helping many teams win their leagues with his play at the end of the year. Wouldn’t be surprised to see that happen again.

QB Jordan Love was selected by Green Bay to be the heir apparent to the Aaron Rodgers era. That will not end this year, so he is not on the fantasy radar unless Rodgers’ collarbone issue recurs. Which may be self-inflicted at this point.

RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire slots in to an ideal fantasy spot in the backfield in Kansas City with the Super Bowl champs. Damien Williams did finish the year strong though once he was healthy so I don’t believe this will be more than a RBBC which will hinder the fantasy value of both barring any injury. I see Clyde as a RB4/5 range until someone emerges as the workhorse. You are probably looking at a late round dart throw after round 10 and hoping Damien Williams injury history continues.
