Recapping Week 7

Quick recap of this past weekends’ games:

Match 1: Team Van Vennekotter vs The Keck’s

Scott and Stephanie sought to keep their perfect season alive against Mark and Jessica.  The aura of facing the defending champs was evident but Team Van Vennekotter hung tough early on.  Mark even was heard saying, “These guys aren’t as good as we thought” after pouncing on a 1-0 lead.  The Keck’s must have heard the slight and took heart, rolling to consecutive wins 11-2 and 11-0 respectively to earn the match.

Match 2: The Wagner’s vs The Morgan’s

Ross and Catlyn jumped out to a 7-2 lead in game one and had the Wagner’s searching for answers to combat some great teamwork by the Morgan’s.  Juice and Sarah had to dip into their special sauce and rattled off 9 straight points to earn the Game 1 win.  Game 2 was another game of runs.  The Wagner’s jumped out to a 6-1 lead.  The Morgan’s battled back to make it 6-5.  The Wagner’s, however, got the final run of the game in to win 11-5 and earn the match.

Match 3: The Horstman’s vs The Wagner’s

Blake and Brock were back in action as the father/son duo sought to earn their first win of the year.  After a grueling test against the Morgan’s the Wagner’s were back on the court with little of their secret sauce left.  Fortunately, they didn’t the victory elixir, earning the match in straight sets 11-3, 11-4 over the Horstman’s.

Match 4: The Winkle’s vs The Sullivan’s

The winkles and Sullivan’s were back on the court for a hard-hitting affair.  It sounded like the home run derby with both sides crushing the ball at one another and from time to time, into the net as well.  After a slow start, the Winkle’s quickly found their groove and cruised to a 11-7, 11-4 straight set victory.

Match 5: The Donaldson’s vs The Streicher’s

Seeking to avenge their only regular season loss last year and coming off their first loss of this season, Brian and Sarah were eager to take on Jordan and Jill.  The Donaldson’s took advantage of a little rust shown by the Streicher’s at first in an 11-1 Game 1 win.  Game 2 was much more competitive with some terrific battles at the net.  In the end, the Donaldson’s came out on top 11-5 to get back into the win column.

Match 6:  The Streicher’s vs The Sullivan’s

Jordan and Jill had to quickly shake off the jaws of defeat as a family battle was on hand in a double header for both teams.  Jamie and Danny were hoping to take advantage of potential fatigue by the Streicher’s in playing back to back matches.  Jordan and Jill ensured that hope was all that it would be with a dominant performance winning 11-6, 11-0 to get back on the winning streak.

Lots of games will need to be re-scheduled this next week with teams out of town and many teams may need to pull double headers this week.  We’ll get an updated schedule out before the weekend. Should be lots of great Pickleball action for everyone to enjoy so feel free to stop out and support your favorite team!
